EERC ~ Staff - Dennis McCarthy
Ph.D., Ecology, University of Tennessee. J.D., College of Law, University of Tennessee. M.S., Zoology, Michigan State University. B.S., Biology, University of Tennessee. Dr. McCarthy is editor in chief of FORUM for Applied Research and Public Policy, an award-winning policy journal dedicated to energy, the environment, science and technology, and economic development. Dr. McCarthy is also a partner in the law firm of McCarthy and McCarthy and is licensed to practice law in Tennessee. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. As an adjunct professor at Tusculum College, he annually teaches a course in environmental law. Before coming to the University of Tennessee, Dr. McCarthy was publications manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority. Earlier positions at TVA included speechwriter for the Board of Directors, policy analyst, environmental scientist, and assistant to the director of environmental quality. His TVA publications and speeches have earned numerous regional and national awards.
