2004 Training Workshop ScheduleTennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Training
and Certification Program Tennessee Department of Transportation Tennessee Water Resources Research Center Department of Biosystems Engineering & Environmental Science Level I - Fundamentals of Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Workshop (word file) | (.pdf file)
This is a foundation-building course intended for individuals involved in land-disturbing activities covered by TDEC’s Construction General Permit: inspection and enforcement personnel from all levels of government, plan preparers and reviewers, and designers and engineers. This course aims to build a solid working knowledge of erosion and sedimentation processes and practices. OBJECTIVES AND GOALS: Prerequisites: No formal requirements. Materials needed: You will be provided with a copy of the current edition of the Tennessee Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook: A Guide to the Protection of State Waters through the use of Best Management Practices during Land Disturbing Activities. Certification: All Level I workshop participants are required to take a course completion exam in order to be awarded PDH credit and a Certificate of Course Completion. PDHs: 7.0 hours Times: Registration 8:00-8:30 a.m.; Class 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Cost: $150 Special Note: This course is a prerequisite for the Level II course
“Design Principles for Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control
on Construction Sites.” Level II - Design Principles for Erosion Prevention
and Sediment Control
This advanced, two-day course is designed for engineers, environmental designers, plan preparers, and reviewers. Landscape architects and other professionals involved with the construction site planning and design are encouraged to attend. Detailed instruction is given on the engineering technologies needed to control stormwater on a construction site. Workshop participants will obtain the tools needed for developing an acceptable, working erosion and sediment control plan as described in TDEC’s Tennessee Erosion & Sediment Control Handbook and required by the Tennessee General Construction Stormwater Permit. TOPICS DISCUSSED INCLUDE: OBJECTIVES AND GOALS: • Review of surface water hydrologic principles and hydrologic
evaluation for construction sites including time of concentration, runoff
coefficient, and storm event analysis.
Materials needed: Please bring a copy of the current edition of the Tennessee Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook: A Guide to the Protection of State Waters through the use of Best Management Practices during Land Disturbing Activities; you must have it for the course. Also, bring a portable calculator and pencil. PDHs: 14.0 hours Times: Registration 8:00-8:30 a.m. first day; Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided both days. Cost: $300 Registration: Registration is limited to 40 persons. Early registration and pre-payment are strongly encouraged to guarantee your space. You must have your registration in by 5 working days prior to the workshop to be assured a space (see registration form for deadlines). To register, complete the registration form and fax or mail it to the number and address provided on the form. Confirmation of registration will be by email or fax within 5 days. If you have any questions regarding registration or course content, contact the Tennessee Water Resources Research Center at (865) 974-2151 or email Tim Gangaware at gangwrrc@utk.edu. Cancellation Policy: In the event you are unable to attend the workshop you registered for, attendee substitutions are allowed and encouraged. We will issue full refunds for cancellation made five (5) working days prior to the workshop.
