In 1997, Saturn Corporation and UT's Energy, Environment, and Resources Center joined together to explore innovative practices to manage Saturn's 2,400 acres in Spring Hill, Tennessee.  The Land Use Project is a part of the Saturn Corporation and University of Tennessee Partnership which was formed to share and exchange information and resources for the mutual benefit of each organization.

Though different issues have emerged, the focus of the project centers around the following four main objectives:

  • improvement of the variety of plants and wildlife

  • enhancement of the natural beauty

  • reduction of grounds maintenance costs

  • awareness of the environment and Saturn's efforts to improve it

The award-winning success of the Saturn/UT Land Use Project has depended greatly on the working relationships with Facilities Maintenance, Premier Manufacturing, Farming Operations, Excel, and the University of Tennessee.
